There is a massive need in African schools. They are generally poorly resourced in almost every area, never mind computers.
We hope to continue the work we have started in Sierra Leone. In 2009 we are adding more computers at St Georges, and a second computer room at a seperate location for the school. At the Makena vocational college we hope to supply them with tools for carpentry, mechanics and farming. We are continually looking for other organisations in Sierra Leone to work with, and will no doubt be equipping more schools over the coming years. Its our intention to establish an in-country worker who will support the schools and projects that we establish in Sierra Leone. At St. Gabriels in the Congo we intend supplying them with more sowing machines, carpentry equipment and installing a computer classroom. Due to the erratic nature of their electricity supply in the Congo, a generator is also a must for this school. We also have pencilled in, a vocational college in Burundi. With virtually no resources at all, the school is gradually being rebuilt by a Catholic Priest. Set in the town of Musenyi, they would benefit from tools of all types, plus computers. We are also working with another charity, Heart for the City, to transform St. Monica's Foundation in Nakuru, Kenya, helping turn it into a community vocational college. This really is only the tip of the iceberg. There is a huge requirement for better facilities in African schools. We can supply the equipment, the man power and the resources. What we need help with is the funding of the projects. Funds to ship the goods, to pay import duties, to pay transport costs etc. etc. It doesn't cost the earth to install and equip these schools. Working together we can make a difference, and change peoples lives !
